Siew Qi's First Look into
the World of Aviation

First-year Jurong Pioneer Junior College student Mok Siew Qi (left) joined the three-day Youth Outreach Programme in November 2025 and discovered the fast-paced world of aviation.

Committing to a full three-day programme is not something every student is willing to do. Mok Siew Qi was one of 45 students invited to attend the Youth Outreach Programme from 26 to 28 November 2025.

As a first-year student at Jurong Pioneer Junior College, Siew Qi was immediately intrigued when her teacher introduced the programme in school. Over the duration of the programme, she discovered the exciting, fast-paced world of aviation.

Having hands-on experiences and hearing directly from professionals such as pilots, cabin crew, aircraft engineers, air traffic controllers, network planning and customer experience specialists opened her eyes to the many different paths within the industry.

"Before this programme, I did not have a lot of knowledge about the aviation industry. I got to explore different roles which allowed me to learn about future job prospects and understand the work that goes on behind-the-scenes. This is something I don't experience as a passenger," said Siew Qi.

The SIA Foundation organises two runs of the Youth Outreach Programme each year, working with Singapore schools to select students to participate.
