Cody's traineeship with Singapore Airlines turned a childhood dream into reality, giving him first-hand exposure to the fast-paced world of aviation and shaping his career aspirations.

Cody Chong, an ITE student and 2024 Singapore Airlines Foundation Awardee, had dreamed of working in aviation since childhood. When he was offered a traineeship with SIA in the IT Systems & Network team, he took up the opportunity without hesitation, turning a long-held ambition into reality.

"Working with the network team opened my eyes to a fast-paced, efficient and highly collaborative world. I gained valuable insights to how complex systems have to be managed seamlessly to keep operations running smoothly," said Cody.

Cody believes that his experience in SIA has already provided him with clarity about the future and given him a strong head start in the aviation industry. He performed strongly throughout his internship, and his contributions were recognised by the department. As a result, his internship was extended by a further six months.

As he navigates his future career options, Cody is keeping in mind what his supervisor shared - that learning is a never-ending journey and to stay curious and continuously seek new knowledge.

The SIA Foundation awards 20 ITE and Polytechnic students each year under the Youth Uplift Programme, working with partner schools to select recipients.
